WIGCA Committees
WIGCA Members are able to participate in multiple committees to pursue various initiatives and develop a range of interdisciplinary skills. Learn about some of the ongoing efforts of WIGCA committees below and join a committee when you become a member, or volunteer with WIGCA!
Education Committee
The Education Committee aims to create and promote opportunities for members to continue developing professional skills and to oversee instructive activities for the general public.
Goals include participating in various community events, supporting genetic conferences initiations, and increasing educational material throughout the community.
Nominations Committee
The Nominations Committee’s primary responsibility is to solicit and elect candidates for the WICGA Board of Directors, including the committee chairs.
The nomination’s ongoing duties include establishing a ballot, overseeing elections, and apprising the election bylaws.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee provides monetary guidance and oversight to the WIGCA organization with respect to short- and long-term goals.
The finance committee has led the establishment of the state chapter status with NSGC. Ongoing responsibilities include developing and reviewing fiscal procedure, fundraising plans, and the annual budget.
Social Policy Committee
The Social Policy Committee continues to work toward genetic counselor licensure in the state of Wisconsin.
The Committee is responsible for coordinating with our congressional representative and lobbyist, as well as working with WI state policies and statutes to foster appropriate use of genetic information.
Communications Committee
The Communications Committee is responsible for the image and networking surrounding the WIGCA community. Ongoing duties include: maintaining social media presence, establishing a genetic healthcare directory, and increasing public awareness of the genetic counseling profession.
